HOW MUCH YOU CAN SAVE. WELCOME AGAIN. MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH AND THIS MORNING THE GREATER MANCHESTER MENTAL HEALTH CENTER HAD AN ACT TO OFFER SUPPORT. THE EVENT WAS RECOGNITION TO THE EMPLOYEES, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE POLICE AND FIREMEN. THEY’VE ALL GOT IN THE SHAPE OF THE MENTAL HEALTH RIBBON, WEARING THESE GREEN SHIRTS YOU’LL SEE. ORGANIZERS NOTE THAT THE GOAL OF THE EVENT IS TO SHOW HOW EVERYONE CAN COME TOGETHER TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH IS TO BRING SOME KIND OF AWARENESS ABOUT THE FACT THAT, YOU KNOW, 1 IN 5 AMERICANS ARE SUFFERING FROM SOME FORM OF MENTAL ILLNESS, AND WE KNOW THAT NUMBER IS A LOT. BUT WE KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT TO TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH. SO IT’S A MONTH THAT WE CAN CELEBRATE ALL THE GOOD ASPECTS AND THINGS WE’VE DONE TO MAKE MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT BETTER, WE CAN ALSO GET PEOPLE TO START TALKING A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH, THEIR HEALTH, THE HIS HEALTH, HIS HEALTH. YOU HAVE SOMETHING WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT FROM TIME TO TIME, ONLY HALF OF AMERICANS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS GET TREATMENT. MIND
Greater Manchester Mental Health Center recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month
Since 1949, the month of May has been celebrated as Mental Health Month. On Saturday, the Greater Manchester Mental Health Center organized an event to offer their support. Employees, their families, and police and fire departments wore green T-shirts and organized themselves into a mental health ribbon to signify their support for local mental health. “The importance of Mental Health Awareness Month is to bring some kind of awareness to the fact that one in five Americans suffer from some form of mental illness. We know that number is much higher than that. We know it’s hard to talk about . about mental health, so a month where we can really celebrate all the issues and all the good things we’ve done to improve mental health treatment, we can also get people to start talking more about their own mental health because we all have things we need to talk about,” said Rick Cornell, vice president of community relations and development. According to Mental Health America, more than half of Americans suffering from mental illness do not receive treatment.
